photography competition 2013

The Competition

Winners announced.

Launched last September, the National Geographic Traveller (UK) photography competition received thousands of UK entries and we have been truly impressed at the incredibly high standard of submissions, whether from professionals or amateurs. It was split into six categories, and we were looking for the very best in action, colour, faces, urban, rural, and wildlife shots, whether an image captured a millisecond of a moment, a dramatic light, or illustrated the unimaginable scale of its subject. In just one frame, a photo can embody the essence, emotion and atmosphere of a destination and sum up a multitude of feelings in the flash of a shutter. We’ve handpicked the very best of this year’s entries and here are our winners.

The grand-prize winner received an all-expenses-paid photographic commission for two to Utah with the Utah Office of Tourism and Delta Air Lines to capture its cinematic scenery on an eight-night fly-drive, plus a Fujifilm X-Pro1 camera and 35mm lens worth nearly £2,000. Six runners up - the category winners - each received a Fujifilm X-S1. RRP: £599.
